Summary from the notice
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Buffalo Field Office requires secure storage for its Special Response Team (SRT) assets. These assets are currently held at the secure storage facility operated by the Town of Lancaster, NY at the Lancaster Police Department (LPD) facility located at 525 Pavement Road in Lancaster, NY. Approximately $500,000.00 of agency assets are stored at this facility. Storing these agency assets at any other secure storage facility in the Buffalo, NY metro area would present a significant logistical challenge with respect to the coordination of the pick-up/drop-off of assets at the two ICE/ERO facilities (Buffalo Field Office in downtown Buffalo and the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility (BFDF) in Batavia, NY) located within the ICE/ERO Buffalo Area of Responsibility (AoR) . It is therefore necessary to continue to utilize the LPD secure facility to store all SRT assets in a central location between the ICE/ERO Buffalo and Batavia facilities. The LPD facility is within close proximity (five miles) of the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport. Proximity to the airport is required because of the many times SRT is deployed to assist ERO flights at the airport.
